What did you do with your children last week? Will they remember the time you are spending with them now, later in life? Since childhood, an open fire has always brought out the same insatiable urge to put a wiener on a stick and cook it. After a couple of “I made it myself” hot dogs, there was no finer desert than to roast a marshmallow or few. Mom and Dad taught me to cook, and how to act around a fire in a warm and loving way. Maybe it wasn’t exactly the most balanced of meals, but inverting the food pyramid once in a while can be even more nourishing for the spirit. Whether at a backyard fire pit or some of our country’s great campgrounds, you’ll probably never forget the satisfaction and pride of such a simple event.
I don’t like to tear up defenseless trees and bushes any more. Nowadays we share the good times together using our handmade roasting sticks. Our friends and family have urged us to offer them to you and that’s why we started summercooks.com.
